The Victory Division raced north through the night, in the midst of a blinding sandstorm. 197th Brigade reached PL LION at 0200. PL LION ran east west through the 24th Mechanized Infantry Division’s sector, about one hundred fifty kilometers inside Iraq. LION was just south of a road that connected As Salman, in the west, and al Busayyah, in the east. At 0300, Colonel Reid attacked his first objective. OBJECTIVE BROWN was the western end of the Salman/Busayyah road.
